GiveToLocal is delighted to announce an official partnership with the Norfolk Women’s &
Girls’ Football League.
With 13 divisions ranging from Under 12s through to senior women’s football, the NWGFL is
a league that is synonymous with grassroots football across the county of Norfolk.
The partnership comes at a welcome time, with grassroots and community sport currently
plotting its return to action in light of recent Government advice.
And Chairwoman Alison Moore believes that the partnership with GiveToLocal will allow
clubs across the NWGFL to build towards a brighter future.
“I’m delighted that we’ve been able to partner with GiveToLocal,” said Alison.
“The last five months have not been without their challenges for us as a league. All of a
sudden, we went from having more than 1,000 women and girls taking part in football to
none within the space of a few days.
“We run our leagues because we want to give girls the opportunity to play football and we
do it for the love of the game.
“So we’re delighted to be partnering with GiveToLocal because they share many of the
values that we do.
“GiveToLocal is something that can help our clubs build towards a brighter future.
“It will help our teams receive financial support at a really welcome time.”
Across the UK, COVID-19 has left its mark on community sport.
And while Alison is clear that the NWGFL will follow the latest Government guidelines
closely, she also admitted that she can’t wait for fixtures to resume
“I’m really excited for the league to return to action,” said Alison.
“You don’t realise how much playing a sport or being part of team can mean until you’re not
part of it anymore.
“I can’t wait to see our leagues fully back in the swing of things. Seeing our pitches full of
players returning will certainly bring a smile to my face!
“However, it’s still really important that we take precautions and follow the guidance set
out by the Government.
“We still have to be mindful of what’s going on across the country.”
The agreement between the two organisations will see GiveToLocal and NWGFL’s work
closely to promote the awareness and benefits of GiveToLocal across the county and
beyond.
And GiveToLocal’s Director of Strategic Partnerships, Colin Stromsoy, is delighted by the
potential power of the league partnership.
“Supporting leagues like NWGFL is something GiveToLocal is keen to do and we have been
in regular contact with Alison and her colleagues for some time now,” said Colin.
“The league impacts positively on so many women and girls across the county. We feel a
formal partnership benefiting all 13 divisions is the best way to reach a broad range of
clubs and local communities.
“We have no doubt that the NWGFL will be up and running again sooner rather than later,
offering women and girls a safe and supportive environment in which to enjoy their football.
“Partnering with their league’s will allows us to support community sport where it is needed
most and it enables us to shine a light on a fantastic organisation.
“Everyone at GiveToLocal is excited to see how this partnership can make a lasting
difference to women’s football across Norfolk and, like Alison, we look forward to the
prospect of full pitches packed with players having fun.”
